The tournament starts on August 30. Pakistan plays against Nepal in Multan. Other matches will be held in Lahore and Sri Lanka. The India-Pakistan match is on September 2 in Kandy, and they might play again on September 10 in Colombo.
The India-Pakistan match is really important for the tournament’s success. They are both in the same group and will play against each other at least twice. This is set up so that they can face off, even though they’re not playing in each other’s countries. This arrangement was made because India didn’t want to play in Pakistan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wanted to have more matches in Pakistan, but only four out of thirteen matches will be there. Some people in Pakistan are wondering if PCB really gained anything from this.
In the history of the Asia Cup, India and Pakistan have had a lot of conflicts. The tournament has been played 15 times since 1984, but it was held in India and Pakistan only once each. The last time it happened in Pakistan was in 2008, and that’s also when India last played cricket there.
The Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the President of the Asian Cricket Council, Jay Shah, said the Asia Cup is important because it brings different countries together. This tournament is in the One Day International (ODI) format. It’s like a practice before the World Cup, which starts in India on October 5.
