The Indian cricket team is getting ready for their next tour to South Africa, where they’ll compete in all three types of cricket matches. It’s expected that today, the team for this tour will be announced, and Rohit Sharma might lead the team in all formats.
The senior selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, will reveal the squad for the South Africa tour today. The tour will kick off on December 10 with the T20 International series, followed by 3 ODIs and 2 Test matches. Everyone’s curious about Rohit Sharma’s inclusion in today’s squad. He hasn’t played a T20 International match since India’s exit in the T20 World Cup in 2022.

Meanwhile, Kohli might skip the white-ball matches, requesting the cricket board to excuse him. Also, due to Hardik Pandya’s ongoing ankle injury, Rohit might be asked to lead the team in the T20 matches. In January, India will host Afghanistan for a three-match T20 series before playing five Test matches against England. Most Indian players are likely to head straight to the T20 World Cup right after the IPL 2024. To maintain stability, the cricket board has extended Rahul Dravid’s tenure as head coach. Whether Rohit Sharma will lead the team in the shorter format remains to be seen.
