The ODI World Cup is starting in India on 5th October. The first game will be between England and New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. These two teams were in the final of the last World Cup. England won their first title, but New Zealand’s dream was not fulfilled. Many teams, like New Zealand, haven’t won the World Cup yet.

Australia has won the World Cup the most times. So far, 19 teams have played in the ODI World Cup, and 6 of them have won the title. West Indies was the champion in the first two seasons but isn’t playing this time, which is a first in history. India won their first title in 1983 and then waited 28 years to win their second World Cup in 2011. Australia has won the most times, 5 times in total.

There are 5 teams playing in this World Cup that haven’t won the trophy. These teams are South Africa, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Netherlands, and New Zealand.

New Zealand has played in all the World Cups, reaching the semi-finals 5 times and the finals twice. In 2015 and 2019, New Zealand made it to the finals but couldn’t win.

South Africa has been in the World Cup since 1992 and reached the semi-finals 4 times. They didn’t make it out of the group stage last time and haven’t reached the finals yet.

Bangladesh played its first World Cup in 1999 but hasn’t reached the semi-finals. Afghanistan played for the first time in 2015 and hasn’t won the title either.
