World Cup 2023: Australia was blown away by the storm of India’s Batting and Bowling. The Indian cricket team has been performing at its best in the Asia Cup and the ODI series against Australia. They have won both tournaments and secured their number 1 position in the ICC ODI rankings.

Impressive Performance Before ODI World Cup 2023

Just before the ODI World Cup in 2023, the Indian team has shown their strength. They first won the Asia Cup 2023 and then defeated the Australian team in the ODI series. India’s batting and bowling have been exceptional in both tournaments.

Chances of Winning ODI World Cup

It’s safe to say that the Indian team is in top form with their batting and bowling. If they continue to perform this well, they might have a good chance of winning the ODI World Cup, which will be held in India later this year.

Here’s some more good news for the Indian team. They became number 1 in the ICC ODI rankings after winning the first match of the series. With the series win, their position is now confirmed, and they will enter the World Cup as the number-1 ODI team.

Before the series against Australia, India was in the second position with 115 rating points in the ODI rankings. Now, they have 117 rating points, securing the top spot. India is now number 1 in all three formats of cricket: ODI, T20, and Test. This is only the second time in men’s cricket history that a team has achieved this feat.

India Dominates Series Against Australia 2-0

In the second ODI match against Australia, played on September 24th in Indore, India won by 99 runs. They had already won the first match by 5 wickets. With this victory, India has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. The third and final match will be played in Rajkot on September 27th.

Indian Team Sets a Massive Target

In the match, Australia won the toss and chose to bowl, but this decision didn’t work in their favor. The Indian team batted first and scored a whopping 399 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Two centuries were scored – Shreyas Iyer made 105 runs, and Shubman Gill scored 104 runs. Suryakumar Yadav contributed an unbeaten 72 runs, while captain KL Rahul made 52 runs. Cameron Green took 2 wickets for Australia, and Josh Hazlewood, Sean Abbott, and Adam Zampa each got 1 wicket.

Revised Target Due to Rain

Australia had a tough start in the match, losing 2 wickets for just 9 runs. Rain interrupted the game, and it was reduced to 17 overs per side according to the Duckworth-Lewis rule. Australia needed to chase 317 runs in 33 overs, and they struggled under this pressure. The Kangaroo team eventually collapsed, scoring only 217 runs and losing the match and series. Sean Abbott scored 54 runs, and David Warner made 53 runs for the Australian team. Ashwin and Jadeja took 3 wickets each for India, while Krishna claimed 2 wickets.
