Historic Match Between SA vs AUS at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, Know the Rules & Regulations

The Cricket World Cup 2023, the grandest event in cricket, has arrived in the city of Lucknow, and it’s a historic moment. On the 12th of October, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium, also known as Ekana, will witness its first-ever World Cup match.

Battle of Champions

The match in Lucknow features a clash between two cricketing giants. Five-time champion Australia, with its illustrious history in the World Cup, will face the South African team, which has always shown promise but is yet to clinch the coveted title.

New Seating Arrangement

In the stadium, a new seating system has been introduced. Blocks are designated from A to Z, and the traditional lower and upper block divisions are eliminated. Spectators will head directly to their designated seats within their respective blocks.

The Day-Night Spectacle

This day-night match will kick off at 2 PM and is expected to continue until around 10 PM. Spectators are allowed entry starting at 11:30 AM, ensuring a thrilling cricketing experience under the lights.

Parking and Transportation

The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has made adequate parking arrangements near the stadium. These details are provided with offline ticket purchases, and online buyers are also informed. Special vehicles will be available to transport spectators from the parking areas to the stadium.

VVIP South Pavilion

The South Pavilion of Ekana is reserved for VVIP seating. Entry for this pavilion is organized through gates three and four. Player buses and VVIP vehicles will access gate three, while foot entry will be via gate four. All spectators are advised to adhere to the entry time mentioned on their tickets.

Corporate Boxes and VIP Lounges

The stadium features 22 corporate boxes on the third floor, with the South Residential Gallery above. The North Pavilion accommodates BCCI and Star TV cameras for live broadcasts. There are VIP lounges and two platinum lounges. The North Pavilion is reserved for media personnel.

Stadium Capacity and Medical Facilities

The stadium can host up to 50,000 spectators, with 22,000 seats each in the eastern and western stands. Additional provisions are available for VIP and media seating, with a medical hub staffed by doctors and nurses. Eight ambulances will be stationed during the match.

Entry Requirements

For those attending the match at Ekana Stadium, a hard copy of the ticket is essential. Spectators who attempt to show mobile versions of their tickets will not be granted entry. Color-coded stickers will be provided along with parking passes and must be affixed to vehicles for parking allocation.

Arrival Time and Re-Entry Rules

Fans must arrive at the stadium three hours before the match begins. Re-entry into the stadium will not be allowed, and security personnel for VVIPs will not carry weapons.

Traffic Management

Special traffic management arrangements will be in place on match day. Various roads around the stadium will become one-way routes during specified hours. Parking stickers must be displayed on vehicles to access the stadium parking.

Items to Leave Behind

Certain items, such as water bottles, lighters, cans, inflammable substances, fireworks, weapons, iron objects, coins, bags, and other restricted items, will not be allowed inside the stadium. However, spectators will have access to drinking water, and essentials like mobile phones and purses will be permitted.

This World Cup match in Lucknow marks a significant moment for the city and promises an unforgettable day of cricket for fans.
