Shubman Gill will take over the Captaincy of Gujarat Titans and Hardik Pandya Mumbai Indians

Indian Premier League (IPL) team Gujarat Titans (GT) will be captained by Shubman Gill. The franchise announced this on Monday. This change has happened due to all-rounder Hardik Pandya leaving the team.

Hardik will be seen playing for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the next season. MI also made its official announcement today on social media. Meanwhile, MI has traded Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Shubman Gill made his IPL debut in 2018
Shubman Gill was the highest run-scorer in IPL 2023. Gill had scored 890 runs in 7 matches at an average of 59.33. 24-year-old Gill made his IPL debut in the year 2018. He has scored a total of 2790 runs in 91 matches so far.

Hardik had made Gujarat champion in the very first season
The Gujarat Titans team entered the IPL for the first time in the 2022 season. The team achieved the distinction of becoming champion in the first season itself under the captaincy of Hardik. Gujarat team also reached the finals in the 2023 season, where it had to face defeat by Chennai Super Kings. Despite so much success, the departure of the Gujarat team and Pandya is surprising the fans and cricket experts.

Will the Mumbai Indians make Hardik the captain?
Hardik has proved his captaincy ability in the last two seasons of IPL. Besides, he is also being seen as the next regular captain of India’s white ball team. It is believed that Mumbai Indians can make Hardik the captain of the team. However, the decision to snatch the captaincy from Rohit Sharma will not be easy. Rohit has made Mumbai champion five times. His captaincy in the recently concluded ODI World Cup has also been highly praised.

Hardik was discovered by Mumbai only
Hardik Pandya started his IPL career in 2015 with Mumbai Indians. In his presence, Mumbai won 4 IPL titles. Hardik remained in Mumbai Indians till 2021. After this, he got injured and when he returned, he was not bowling. Mumbai released him in 2022. Since then he has been the captain of Gujarat Titans for two seasons.
