In the first T20 match played at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Indian team (IND vs AUS) captain Surya Kumar Yadav won the toss and invited Australia to bat first. Australia scored 208 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs on the basis of Josh Inglis’s century. In reply, the Indian team won by 2 wickets on the last ball. Surya Kumar Yadav played the highest innings of 80 runs for India.

Opener Rituraj Gaikwad was out without opening the account.

Chasing the target, India did not have a good start and the host team lost the wickets of both its openers at the score of 22 runs. Rituraj Gaikwad returned to the pavilion without opening his account, while Yashasvi Jaiswal was out after scoring 21 runs. After this, Surya along with Ishan Kishan handled the innings. Ishaan was out after scoring 58 runs in 39 balls, while Surya Kumar scored 80 runs in 42 balls with the help of 9 fours and 4 sixes. Coming at number six, Rinku Singh gave Team India a thrilling victory by scoring unbeaten 22 runs in 14 balls.

The second T20 match of the series will be played in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
